Pakistan’s travel session, a first-of-its-kind keynote theatre, aims to debunk your assumptions and take you on a personal storytelling journey with Anam Hussain, journalist, writer, and travel journalism course instructor with the Al Jazeera Media Institute.
Held in a spacious, state-of-the-art auditorium at the Birmingham South and City College as part of Birmingham’s inaugural Spirit of Pakistan initiative, this one-hour event promises to be a compelling journey into unexpected corners, human stories, and cultural truths.
Drawing on her years of reporting and travel, and as the founder of the award-winning Capra Falconeri Traveller Pakistan Magazine, Hussain blends personal narrative, photography and field reporting to paint a portrait of a Pakistan few ever get to witness and many young British-Pakistanis are still learning to reclaim.
Whether you are a curious traveller, a member of the Pakistani diaspora, or someone eager to challenge global misperceptions, this session offers more than a talk, it’s an invitation to rethink an entire nation.
“The Pakistan I know isn’t breaking news. It’s the resident of Sadpara village in Skardu who tells stories as the sun sets behind the mountains. It’s the call to prayer echoing through the arches of a Mughal fort. It’s a family in the Cholistan Desert who won’t let you leave without sharing tea. It’s layered, beautiful, complicated and worth seeing up close.” – Anam Hussain
You will also hear from the editor of Capra Falconeri Traveller Magazine, Aisha Farooq, on a thought-provoking panel.
Special Giveaway – To round off the event, guests will have a chance to participate in a light quiz, with a chance to win our exclusive Pakistan gift bags, featuring handpicked items inspired by the stories of Capra Falconeri Traveller. We invite you to reimagine how Pakistan is seen and understood.
